WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Bain & Company is seeking to recruit an Expert Telecoms Consultant to build upon the firm’s Telecommunications capabilities in the Americas. This includes working with the Consulting Manager as well as Bain Generalist and Telecoms Expert Partners to define key analyses and deliver high-impact solutions in end-client engagements.  You will be the problem-solving lead, working with clients, local Bain teams, and the Telecoms Center of Expertise to gather data, produce excellent analysis, and deliver compelling recommendations. You will also be called upon to contribute IP for on-going improvement of our telecoms solutions.  

Specific responsibilities on client work include:

  • Work with case team Partner or Senior Manager to understand scope of work; provide relevant advice on telecoms topics, delivery model, and applicable tools
  • Turn data into meaningful insights, and transform insights into high-impact actionable recommendations/approaches
  • Project manage telecoms workstreams, including defining deliverables, setting timelines, and delivering high quality output
  • Lead on-shore / off-shore teams to create and execute against a backlog of critical predefined and custom analyses 
  • Train clients to implement new approaches and appropriate tools  
  • Project-manage development as well as implementation of appropriate tools (proprietary or third party)

Beyond specific client work

  • Work with practice leaders to help with proposals and other areas as required to deepen ability to serve and increase adoption of Telecoms Center of Expertise
  • Support our ongoing effort in promoting telecoms products internally and externally, including leading tool demonstrations
  • Work with Telecoms CoE to communicate future and changing needs of the practice and influence team priorities, capabilities and structure accordingly
  • Proactively suggests solutions; drive new demand for CoE, within and beyond current scope 

Team

  • Communicate effectively with team members around the world concerning the work, client relationship, expectations, and insights 
  • Exert strong positive influence and professional development for junior team members by leveraging content expertise to provide coaching on problem solving, work-planning, data analysis etc. as applicable
  • Constructively engage in mutual feedback process with supervisor and team members
  • Participates in developing programmatic elements of Bain’s telecoms practice, including planning, recruiting, developing people, training etc. as required 

ABOUT YOU

This role requires a minimum of three days per week working together in person, either at a client location or at your Bain home office. Travel is required. This position requires regional travel away from your home office/primary working location. Travel frequency and destinations will vary based on project needs. 

Required:

  • BA or equivalent
  • Distinct telecoms experience. We are looking for candidates that ideally have 4+ years of prior industry level experience in telecoms
  • Strong proficiency in big data gathering, manipulation, analytics, and visualization.  This should include proficiency in big data analysis tools such as Python and/or SQL
  • Ability to quickly pick up and apply complex topics
  • Strong abilities in problem definition and problem-solving
  • Excellent analytical capabilities and experience using complex modeling and analysis to inform key business decisions
  • Excellent oral, written, and PowerPoint communication skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively, and manage others in diverse and distributed teams
  • Ability to work well with all levels within Bain and at client
  • Ability to lead interactions with senior stakeholders (at Bain or Client)
  • Comfort working independently and/or remotely from supervisors in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel to client locations

U.S. Compensation Information

Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best in class benefits package (details listed below).

Some local governments in the United States require a good-faith, reasonable salary range to be included in job postings for open roles. The estimated annualized compensation for this role is as follows:

  • In Texas and Georgia states, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $128,500-$171,500; placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level  
  • Annual discretionary performance bonus  
    • This role may also be eligible for other elements of discretionary compensation  
  • 4.5% 401(k) company contribution, which increases after 3 years of service and is 100% vested upon start date
